I went on a date. Yup. Sort of. Well I did...

My friend Joanna set me up with this guy she knows who is a 3rd year law student at UC Davis/King Hall. "Corn Fed White Boy" is the official description of this young fellow, and I wasn't too sure about him at first- or rather the whole thing in general, being a set-up virgin and all but with some coaching from Kelly and some bitching from Olga, Emily sucked it up and tailgated Jo over to Hoppy Brewing Company for our unofficial date set up thingee.

So I'm not so sure at first about him (attire issues, ahem) but after lookinh at him for awhile and listening to him talk, I am like ok I can do this. He's kinda cute. 1point for you Mr. Date.

He made this terriffic effort of coming over and sitting next to me without prompting (5pts) and started a conversation (5pts) and actually got me to talk, although quite awkwardly because I was nervous (10pts). Then he taught me how to play a beer game where you whack the glass in a particular order, which I think I could actually remember, even now while sober. (20pts Bonus points for making me smile and laugh and blush.)

Then he brought up Mormons. (1pt Emily loves Mormons.) Then he bashed the Mormons. (Minus 20pts Umm...) Then he bashed them some more (Minus 40pts Open mouthed gaping...) then he compared them (the church's power as a whole) to a teacher raping a minor high school student. (Minus 100pts) When I said his comments did not correlate to the people, research or experiences I have had, he said that was because I was not black. (Minus 5,000 pts.)

So let's see, he was up 41 points, and then in the end received a total of 5,160 negative points. Which works out to be -5,119.

Such a shame. He was cute too. Good on paper. Totally my type. And he not only bashed a religion that I personally enjoy very much and am very protective of, but to bash ANYONE's religion for pretty much any reason is a no-no for me. You don't crush other people's beliefs. If perhaps we had already slyly established a mutual dislike, then perhaps this would be ok, to conspire and complain mutually and secretly, but based on what I assume was an increasingly shocked and disgusted look on my face, someone should have told the guy to just stop talking or change the subject, but I was just too stunned.

Then I kind of feel like I may have come off really uptight and snotty because I was being really reserved because I felt really shy and nervous. If he hadn't "gone there" with the religious talk and kept it to non-emotionally charged topics then I probably would have loosened up and flirted and been good. But you know, that's where he's coming from and he's entitled to those views. He probably likes talking about politics and religon and discussing or debating it. But I don't, and that just doesn't work for ME.

But I did it! Props for doing it right? Giant step for Emily here. I talked to a nice boy.

Except that the "nice" boy so offended me that I wanted to physically HURT him and then get up and leave, but you know.... that's not legal.

GRILLED CHEESE DELIGHT

I've just discovered Uncrustables Grilled Cheese Sandwiches!! OOoohh. I had always stared quite longingly at the PB& J sandwiches but couldn't find a reason to buy them since they are on the higher end of the calorie spectrum for their size.

But the ooey-gooey Grilled Cheese goodness? A MERE 140 calories. (According to the box, but not the Smuckers website. Hmmm.) Oooooh.

SO good.

SWIPER NO SWIPING!

I swiped this off Kristin's sister in law's blog!

Which Gilmore Girls Character Are You?

You are part Lorelai. You are energetic, perky, and witty, but sometimes your unique sense of humor can confuse people. You are well-liked by all, but you have trouble with commitment.
You are part Sookie. You are bubbly, fun, and a little klutzy. You are devoted and passionate--sometimes to the point of obsession.

THAT SONG ON THE RADIO...

I got this cool old looking ( but new) stereo around Christmas time on sale and never took it out of the box. It's been sitting behind my front door for almost four months.

So I unpacked it a couple of days ago, and took out a ton of garbage from my houser ( including the box). So that made it a little roomier in my living room. Anyway, there is this space now on top of my tv cabinet and the cats are totally fascinated by the stereo. It makes noise, it probably vibrates a little bit... They think it's great. When I turn it on, Amelia hops up in her Castle ( aka cat condo) right next to it, and Tootie lays next to the stereo and watches it. (I have no idea why he watches it but he does!

STILL WAITING IMPATIENTLY

My grades won't come out until the middle of March. So I am still waiting. I will be waiting for a long time!

I worked really hard on my contracts papers this week for my legal writing class, but I guess I still don't totally understand the material, but then again for the life of me I could not pay attention in contracts class tonight. Bleh. I'm trying.

I am watching a special on the LDS church. I like it. It is fun for me. Yes, I have a little obsession. No, I can't help myself. It is a good show. I still haven't made it to the Institute of Religion to post flyers for wedding photography. I really want to do an LDS wedding before I "retire" from wedding photography, but I just don't know that I have the time to add any more clients to my plate with school and everything. There has to be a limit. But hopefully I will still get to to do ONE, maybe if I am lucky. The Sacramento Temple is small but it is so pretty and I bet they will have great flowers in the spring.

A boy I like at school likes my friend. It is annoying me. I told a lie and said I was ok with it. Then I told her the truth and it is sort of making things tense between us. I had to watch her and him text message each other under their desks during class tonight and it was very annoying to me. I miss David alot. I just wish there was somebody who liked me like that. You know? I am lonely, but I am not really ready to move on. And I was talking to two of my school friend's tonight about the whole thing and they were pretty much yelling at me about how I obviously was ready to move on since I have this little crush, but I think obviously I am not ready since I am choosing to fixate on someone who is not interested and who is not a good match for me anyway. I miss David. Alot. Did I say that already? lol I miss him so much. I haven't talked to him in a long time. But how do you stop loving someone? I don't think I will, it's just a matter of finding more people to love I guess.

I have a new outside cat. He's my little buddy. I was calling him Penelope because he's so girly looking but then after a few months I found out he is actually a little boy! LOL So then I was calling him Peter. But he loves me, and I am starting to love him, and if I adopt him, his name will have to be Berlioz (bear-lee-oh-s) so I have all of the cats from the Disney Artisocat's movie. Marie (My Mary), Toulouse (Toulouse, aka Tootie) and Duchess (I call Amelia Duchess Amelia). If I adopt Peter and call him Berlioz then I will have a complete set of kitties!!!

Here is a picture of Peter the fluffy girly boy cat.
