I mentioned a couple of posts ago I was going to blog about this, well here it is!
This very irritaiting thing I put together about Matt after the fact.
In our early dating, he felt it was important to share with me his favorite movie and songs. The songs he played for me in the car while we were out on dates. One was by Bobby Darin, and they played at a wedding I shot at recently and it was all I could do to not duck my head and cover my ears, I was so upset and shaken in hearing it again. He also played for me the song that was played at the "funeral" of Tyler H., the best friend who was hit by a drunk driver on duty one rainy night and killed. (Not true, no such person, etc. H. is his daughter's name and how he explained why it was tattooed on his back. He said it was in honor of his nonexistant dead friend.)
Anyway, his favorite movie was "French Kiss" starring Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline. It had been his favorite movie since it came out and he really encouraged/pressured me to watch it because he loved it so much. I thought it was adorable he loved a romantic comedy and since I had never seen it, I was excited to watch it. I wanted to watch it with him, but ended up watching it on my own.
It's a film about an engaged woman about to start her life with her fiance when he goes to Paris on a business trip and he leaves her for some floosey. She flies out there to track him down and meets this con-man who uses a fake name (sound familiar?) and a bunch of schemes to steal from her and otherwise manipulate her. She's very intelligent, but falls for him anyway, gives up everything and covers for him. They end up together.
This was his favorite film ever.
I just thought it was romantic, I didn't realize it was "inspirational" to him.
After we had been together around a year, a new movie came out and he was so excited to show it to me because it was his new favorite movie. Signifigant since French Kiss had been his favorite for more than a decade. 15 years maybe? (When did it come out? 94?)
The night before his hearing to protest his termination from law enforcement (lies, never fired, no hearing) we watched several movies, including his new favorite. It was called, "The Invention of Lying." About a man who lived in a world that, basically, didn't know anything about lying and he invents it and basically, controls the world. This was his new favorite film.
S.O.B. A-HOLE.
That's all I have to say. And I don't really feel sorry for swearing either.

That boy definitely suffers from some major mental issues. What a way to ruin a great movie, too. French Kiss is actually really good, but I'm positive now you'll never be able to watch it without causing your blood to start boiling over Matt. :o(
