I have been emailing that professor for the last month, without response. I finally went to the office and asked for an appointment. I had done the math, talked to a few other students and found grading discrepancies. It seemed as though some students who were less popular or less close to the professor were graded more harshly.
I met with him for an hour and went over all if his feedback on my papers in detail. About 3/4's if the way through he commented, "Well, you got an A- in the class, so." I interrupted and said no, I got a B+, at which point he seemed to feign confusion... And then logged into his administrative account and changed my grade.
I'm thrilled, but skeptical. I still believe he grades me much more harshly than any if my other professors, AND more harshly than some of my classmates.
Immediately after the meeting I learned he had found out that morning the schools computer system had made done kind of math error and that many grades were negatively affected. He didnt mention that to me at all. (And he already knew at the time we spoke.)
I am still unhappy with him, and I wouldn't not take another class with him if possible, but I'm delighted that for the first time in my life I got straight A's!! (A-'s still count, right?!)
